Day 6.

Last night was the 5th night trying to let my head rest. I still haven’t seen any signs that anyone else is still around other than the power still being online. Telephones still seem to be working too, at least they’re ringing. Obviously no-one has yet to pick up. I spent yesterday driving around again but again didn’t see anyone. Got my hands on some spray paint and sprayed “ALIVE. ALONE. IF PHONE WORKS 555-8976” on several prominent building sides around town. I don’t expect much to come from it… we’ll see…

Found one of the local radio stations and broke in. I could only stand the alarm going off for about a half hour before I quit trying to figure out how to get the thing transmitting. I would imagine the alarm will run out of juice by tomorrow so maybe I’ll try again although… well, I’m not holding out much hope that it’ll reach anyone anyway I guess but what else am I going to do with my time?

I will say it’s amazing how quiet it is… maybe not amazing. I’d have expected it to be quiet without people but I guess it’s one of those things the brain just isn’t ready for. I wandered down Church Street and the silence was made more apparent when, without the constant buzz of people and traffic, I could faintly hear some coyotes howling in the distant mountains.

It's amazing how much of nature was being drowned out by even our smallest cities.
